When Zoe’s owners dropped her off for Day Camp the next morning, she went straight to Vinnie. “Vinnie! Yikes! I’m so sorry I didn’t have a chance to help you with your routine yesterday,” she told him. “Everything got so crazy with P.S. and the new posters and—”

“That’s okay, Zoe,” he interrupted her. “You’re the director. I get it. You’re busier than everybody else.”

“But I’ll never be too busy for you,” Zoe replied. “Let’s get right to work. Show me the beginning again; then we’ll break it down, beat by beat.”

As the first notes of the song wafted through the air, Zoe settled in her director’s chair to watch Vinnie’s routine again. But before Vinnie could even make a move, Zoe felt a tap on her shoulder. She turned around to find Russell standing behind her.

“Got a minute, Zoe?” he asked.

“Well, I’m helping Vinnie with his routine right now,” she explained. “What’s up?”

“I have a problem with the set pieces,” Russell told her.

Oh no! Not another problem! Zoe thought as her heart sank. But all she said to Russell was, “Can it wait until I finish with Vinnie?”

“Sure,” he replied. “I’ll hang out and watch. I can’t do anything else until we figure out how to fix the set.”

Zoe shook her head. “No, we don’t have any time to waste.” Then she turned and called out, “Hold that pose, Vinnie! I have to check on the set, but I’ll be right back.”

Vinnie froze in place—with his foot high in the air. “Whatever you say, Zoe!” he replied, teetering back and forth.

“No—wait—not literally,” she replied. “Just remember where you were so we can pick up where we left off as soon as I get back.”

“Phew!” Vinnie breathed a sigh of relief as he put his foot on the floor.

Zoe followed Russell to the building area. Since Zoe had last seen the set, Russell had added several of Minka’s colorful stars. A huge grin spread across Zoe’s face as she admired their work. “The set looks fantastic!” she cried. “What’s the problem?”

“That’s the problem,” Russell replied as he pointed to twelve stars that were scattered around on the ground. “I still have to add the top layer of stars, but I’m afraid of heights!”

“Ohhhh,” Zoe said knowingly as she craned her neck to look at the top of the set. It was pretty high off the ground. “Well, what about Minka? She’s not afraid of heights. I’m sure she’d be happy to help.”

Russell glanced around to make sure no one was listening. He leaned close to Zoe, lowered his voice, and whispered, “Would you give Minka a hammer?”

“I see your point,” Zoe replied. “How about Sunil?”

Russell shook his head. “Forget it. He’s so worried that someone will see his magic trick that he’s locked himself in a closet with it, and he won’t come out!” he said.

“Yikes,” Zoe replied. “Well… okay. I guess I can give it a try.”

“Great!” Russell exclaimed. “All you have to do is hammer each star to the one below it.
